GetOnline
Do you need some help and advice to get online? Are you able to help others in your community?
One of our aims is to help create digitally aware communities in the Worth Valley where every citizen & business is connected to the web and understands the many benefits offered by high speed broadband services.
We were an official partner to RaceOnline 2012 and are supportive of campaigns and initiatives to help get people online. We have delivered digital skills and social media training to individuals, community groups and local businesses.
Did you know that 16 million people in the UK aged 15 and over still don’t have Basic Online Skills – yet 90% of all jobs will require ICT skills by 2015?
Just 33% of small to medium-sized companies have a digital presence and only 14% sell their products online. But the more digitally enabled a company is, the faster it tends to grow – and here in the UK we’re twice as likely as the OECD average to buy goods online.
Charities are among the organisations with the most to gain from upping their digital skills, yet one-fifth have little or no web presence and 50% need help with web design and social media.
The potential is huge and it’s growing by the day. Now’s the time to start working together to reap the full benefits of making the UK the world’s most digitally skilled nation.
By helping others locally we will demonstrate how digital technologies can enhance and enrich our lives.
The nation’s seventh national Get Online week takes place 14-20 October 2013. Whether you want to get healthy, get connected or get a bargain, we all know that doing things digitally can make everything quicker and easier – can YOU show people in your community that getting digital could save them time, hassle and even money?
